Burn’s Supper and Ceilidh at Bonar Bridge

Creich Parish Church held a Buffet Burn’s Supper and Ceilidh in  Bonar Bridge Community Hall on January 25th. Over 60 people enjoyed a great night MC’d by Karl Weidner.

Nigel Baird gave a very dramatic address to the Haggis which was piped in by Rory Scott.

After a good supper of Haggis Tattie and Neep, trifle and meringues, Karl presented the immortal memory, Alex Mason made the case for the toast to the lassies and Jeani Hunter replied.

Suddenly Holy Willie (AKA Karl Weidner) appeared from behind the curtains and we all enjoyed his prayer. Then the dancing began! Great fun and frolic punctuated by tea, shortbread and a raffle. £638 was raised for Church funds and thanks go to all who donated, helped in so many ways and those who came along to make the night go with a swing.

The day began with a piper on Creich Church steps who then progressed to the War Memorial. Wreath laying at the War Memorial in Ardgay was followed by a service at the memorial in Bonar Bridge where many laid wreaths and families took forward poppy-crosses. Most then walked up to the Church service and a large congregation took part in a moving service also led by Rev. Graeme Muckhart.
Members of the Scottish Legion had arranged a WW1 lunch to be followed by a ceilidh and then bonfire on the Kyleside. The day finished with a piper and cornet player there. It was a tremendous day and congratulations to all who worked so hard.
